Bladder Cancer
Bladder Cancer is the most expensive cancer to treat because it is typically found and treated at later stages. Diagnosis for bladder cancer is done today in one of two ways:
Cystoscopy — real time imaging procedure done with flexible camera called a cystoscope. The device is inserted into the urethra and gradually advanced into the bladder under local or general anesthesia.
Expensive, invasive and painful.
Urine Cytology — urine sample evaluated by pathologists. Based on morphological information visible by light microscope.
Inaccurate and insensitive to low grade cases.
CytoBay’s LICC innovation can improve urine cytology by visualizing tumor marker expression as an immuno-stain which is sensitive to high grade and low grade bladder cancer. Our methodology precisely identifies low grade cancer cells and makes screening a possibility.
